About this event:

This professional learning series is designed to support secondary educators in strengthening adolescent literacy instruction across content areas through science-based literacy practices, collaborative reflection, and practical classroom application. The learning will focus on bridging research to practice by helping educators connect evidence-based literacy instruction directly to authentic secondary classroom experiences. The series includes one full-day in-person session followed by four one-hour virtual sessions throughout the school year focused on sustaining implementation and continued learning. The first portion of each virtual session will be recorded to allow participants to access the content if they are unable to attend live, while discussion and collaboration portions will remain interactive and unrecorded to support meaningful conversation and reflection.

Participants will:

• explore high-impact, science-based adolescent literacy practices

• strengthen Tier 1 literacy instruction across content areas

• discuss supports for multilingual learners and students with disabilities

• engage in collaborative planning using authentic classroom materials

• reflect on vocabulary, comprehension, writing, and disciplinary literacy

• practices leave with practical strategies and resources that can be implemented immediately
