CESA 2 provides a Department of Public Instruction (DPI) approved Driver Education Program to high schoolers throughout Wisconsin.

Overview

Driver Education is a foundational offering of CESA 2. Districts that contract with CESA 2 are able to offer a driver education program to students at no cost to the district. Contracting with CESA 2 for this program allows districts to offer driver education to their high school students without incurring operational, vehicle, staff, and liability costs.

The program is 100% funded by student fees.

Traditional classroom

Driver Education is taught in the local high schools of the CESA 2 partner districts. The traditional classroom course meets all requirements of the DPI and the DOT for Driver Education. CESA 2 instructors are certified educators through WI-DPI, an important distinction compared to commercial driving schools. Behind-thewheel driving is conducted locally with CESA 2 instructors providing instruction.

Online Course

CESA 2 offers an online option for completing the classroom phase of driver education. The online course can be offered along with a high school program as an alternative for students. It offers another option to students who may be unable to attend the class at the high school.

The online course meets all DPI and DOT requirements for online learning. It also meets the online learning standards set by iNACOL, an international association that specializes in competency-based online learning
