The Language, Literacy, and Learning Integrated Framework for Teaching (L3IFT) Framework, designed to transform the way you see language and how to teach it, helps you meet the needs of every student in your classroom, especially multilingual learners. Our framework isn't meant to give you one more thing to worry about, but to lift your teaching practices to make teaching a diverse classroom easier. Through our resources, you’ll walk away with tools you can use tomorrow to enhance your instruction, build more inclusive learning environments, and bring language into the heart of your teaching.
You aren't alone. Let's navigate through our framework and understand the interconnectedness of language, culture, and identity.

The L3IFT Framework uses six components to approach high quality teaching:
- Culturally Sustaining Practices
- Integration of Disciplinary Literacy, Language, and Reasoning
- Experience-Anchored Language Learning
- Explicit and Sustained Language Focus
- High Challenge & High Support with Macro-Micro Scaffolding
- Quality Interactions for Meaning Making
By implementing these core components, educators can create inclusive learning environments that promote the academic success of all students.
Learn more about these components and how to implement them in our introductory paper!
